Key Residential Teachers

Shri. Prakash Hedge

Shri PrakashAs an ardent lover of Yoga, Ayurveda & Community Health and Wellness, Prakash right from the very early formative years of childhood has been deeply drawn to the practices of Yoga and it’s applications in everyday life. Prakash is blessed to have this beautiful soul, his Doddamma (which in his native language literally means big mother) as his spiritual guide right while growing up in India. Prakash nurtured his deep yearning for Yoga through early morning daily practices (which he continues even today along with Gayatri Upasana) and studied rigorously at Sri Raghavendra Yoga Shala (India) and later after coming to USA at Yoga Bharati (a non-profit org, branch of SYVASA - Sri Vivekananda Yoga University, India).

Prakash co-founded Yogasophy Group - a community wellness empowerment initiative
through Yoga; and he has been organizing Yoga summer camps, workshops, fitness
conditioning programs for Seva organization events such as Sevathon, Ekal Marathon,
and seminars in various parts of USA and India. Prakash has also been devoting his
talents and resources as founder of Vishwa-Girija Wellness Foundation – a globally
replicable self care model currently being implemented at his roots (birth place) in remote
India for the holistic welfare of the community at the grassroots level, caring for the
ecology (Mother Nature) as the foundation of the program.

Prakash has been sharing his knowledge of Yoga for several years both in USA and
India. His teaching is rooted in his own personal experience, each of his sessions invite
students to focus on “their own experience”, as he says – “one’s own experience is
one’s truth at any moment”.

Prakash continues his study with many renowned teachers – Vedika Gurukula, Swami
Bodhananda Saraswati, Sri. N V Raghuram, Sri. N Sheshagiri, Ramachandra Guruji, Sri.
Suryakanth Joshi, Swami Sangamadevaru and from each of you -– the dedicated
practitioners of this beautiful science of life. Prakash also devotes time to study classical
music.

with farming at Community Gardens, household waste reduction programs through
Composting & simple ways to reduce energy footprint in everyday life, Water and
Energy conservation initiatives, Nature protection/promotion programs and Walk/Bike
advocacy projects.

Prakash with help from his wife and other local community leaders has been offering as a
gift to the community’s health and wellness weekly Yoga practices for several years at
their home space.
