Treating Obesity at the Source - Obesity: Presented by Vaidya Mahesh Sabade While Western medicine understands the need for disciplined eating and consistent exercise to reverse obesity, Ayurveda complements this effectively with its in-depth knowledge of the qualities of foods and effective lifestyles, and its powerful yogic practices for the body, mind and spirit that help uproot the physical, mental and emotional causes of obesity for sustainable, long term results. Obesity keeps us from living our dreams and keeps us disconnected from our healthy self within. Leaping beyond mainstream prescriptions for burning calories, Ayurveda opens dimensions of powerful, long term weight loss via two forms of tapas or austerity: firstly burning excess fat in the body by first burning the aam or pathological metabolites / toxins that perpetuate the cycle of false hunger and over nourishment, and secondly, learning to discipline the tongue and uproot cravings from the mind. Benefit from this amazing talk on the Ayurvedic path to weiht loss. Vaidya Mahesh Sabade is an accomplished Ayurvedic practitioner, Panchakarma expert, and teacher. He is an anchor faculty of Vedika Gurukula in Berkeley, and as well as teaching and practicing in Pune. Vaidya Maheshji earned the Ayurvedacharya and Ayurveda Vachaspati degrees (B.A.M.S. & M.D.) from the University of Pune, and conducted research on obesity and lekhan basti after receiving a Dharam Hinduja Scholarship for post-graduate studies and research at the Ayurved Research Institute in Pune. Since 1997, Vaidya Maheshji has been running his own Ayurvedic consultancy and Panchakarma center in Pune, and teaches Panchakarma at the College of Ayurveda and Research Centre, Akurdi, Pune. He has recently been appointed as Honorary Ayurveda Consultant for the State Governor of Maharashtra, and also consults at University of Pune Health Center. He is co-author, along with Dr. P. H. Kulkarni, of Aahar, The Scientific Diet, and his forthcoming publication is Aromatic Plants in Ayurveda. read more |
