Prerequisite requirements:
Internal: All Vedika Gurukula students and alumni who have graduated from Vedika’s 2nd year program are eligible to take this course.
External: Students from various formal and non formal educational programs who have completed fundamentals of Ayurvedic principles and basics in Dravyaguna are welcome to register. Knowledge of Ayurveda herbs is useful but not mandatory. Presenting certificate of past course completion will be required before certificate of completion for this course is issued by Vedika Global. Please bring a copy to the class.
Contents: Introduction to Bhaishajya Kalpana:

Bhaishajya means medicine and kalpana means forms hence Bhaishajya Kalpana is the branch of Ayurvedic medicine which deals with the various forms of medicine such as juice, tablet, jelly, powder etc. The importance of Bhaishajya Kalpana is as follows:
- It increases the potency of medicine by sanskar (i.e. vishesh gunantardhana - adding or generating special property).
- It makes the medicine durable.
- It makes the medicine palatable.
- It removes the toxic effect of medicine by shodhana karm.
- As per the severity of the disease it helps the adjustment of dosha.
- It customizes the medicine as per need of patient and disease.
This Module includes discussion of the following topics:
- Introduction to Science of Bhaishajya Kalapan and its importance in Ayurvedic healing
- What every practitioner of Ayurveda must know including how to fix dosages, what factors to keep in mind (including Dosha, Dushya Agni, Desha, Kaal, Bala, Agni etc) and
- Concept of Panchavidha Kashay Kalpana
- Includes detailed survey of the following preparations: Swarasa, Kalka, Churna, Quath, Fanta, Heema, Asav- Arishta, Ksheer-pak, Panak, Churna, Guti - Vati, Sneha - Paka (Sneha Murchhana, Ghruta Paka, Taila Paka), Lepa, Upanaha, Udvartan, Malahar, Pathya kalpana (Manda, Peya and Yavagu), Avaleha Kalpana, Guggul Kalpana
- Practical Training - Preparation of some of the kalpanas
