Sharad Ritu or Autumn / Fall (Sept 15 to Nov 15) is a season of Pitta excitation due to accumulated heat of previous summer season in the human body (microcosm), and increasing snigdhata (quality of oiliness and moisture) in the nature (macrocosm), this happens due to the beginning of Dakshinayan (southern course of Sun). therefore, if we eat as per Sharad Ritu recommendations from our Shastras (core texts), and cook and enjoy recipes from the classical tradition, we can prevent a myriad of disorders including fevers, hot rashes, herpes break out, headaches, loss of vitality and strength and other Pitta disorders.
