present
A Two-Day Workshop
Applied Ayurveda for Yoga Practitioners

September 17th and 18th, 2011
at Vedika Global, Emeryville, CA
(open to all levels)

The science of Yoga transforms our health for the better.
When Ayurveda principles are also applied, the two Vedic
sciences work together beautifully in great synchorsity for enhanced
wellbeing and health. This two-day workshop provides a
systematic exposure to Ayurveda which can be successfully
utilized to prevent disease, and improve health and wellbeing.

Understand Ayurveda’s Fundamental Principles: How does the macro-universe affect your micro-universe? How do the five great elements weave your entire body? What element dominates you? And what does this signify for you and your Yoga practice?

Explore the Doshas at Length: Understand the three Doshas and their five subtypes that govern mind and body and impact your constitution, personality, immunity and health. Understand how to recognize Dosha imbalance and learn self help methods to bring Doshas back to balance.

Understand the Concept of Agni and Aam: Ayurveda explains four types of digestive fires. Learn how to optimize your type. Do you have toxins from inadequately digested food which are affecting your joints, skin, and immunity? Recognize toxins and learn to burn them through Aam-pachan protocol.

Appreciate Ayurveda Dietics: Understand your unique digestive capacity and the importance of the six tastes, two potencies and three post digestive effects, and the impact of seasons. This topic is an eye opener for future meal planning for improved health and wellbeing.

Learn and Taste Ayurvedic Recipes: All Indian cooking is not necessarily Ayurvedic cooking - which is a science unto itself. Ayurveda classical texts describe recipes with specified seasonal ingredients and spices that enhance Oja, Teja and Prana. View demonstrations and enjoy samples.

Live an Ayurvedic Lifestyle: Ayurveda lifestyle is inspired by nature, and its divine agents, the Sun and the Moon, and includes recommendations for the different times of the day and seasons. Learn daily rituals and understand Ayurveda’s teachings on exercise, Yoga practice (duration, timing, do’s and don’ts), etc.

Benefit from Health Principles for the Mind: Learn applied tools of Ayurveda psychology; ‘prescriptive positive behavior’ (Achar Rasayana and Sadvritta) that can be employed in everyday life for better mental health. Ayurvedic psychology is unique and its understanding will complement your Yoga practice.
